Star-Herald Back Issues Now Available Online

NewsBank

Back issues of the Star-Herald are now available online from the library computers or from home with your library card number. Available issues begin with April 14, 2005. Other regional newspapers are also available on the NewsBank database, including the Denver Post, the Kansas City Star, the Lincoln Journal Star and the Omaha World Herald, as well as a selection of national news magazines, and other Nebraska and national news sources.

NoveList Plus

Using NoveList Plus, you can search among hundreds of thousands of popular fiction and readable nonfiction titles, and also retrieve author read-alikes, book lists, book discussion guides, and more. All of this rich editorial content is crafted by librarians and reading authorities who are experts in the field -- making NoveList Plus the premier readers’ advisory resource.  NoveList Plus is available through computers located in the Library and at home with your library card number.

Auto Repair Reference Center

Auto Repair Reference Center is the EBSCO resource for automotive diagnostic and repair information. Wiring diagrams and other information can be printed on the system printer at the Information Desk. This service is available through computers located in the Library and at home with your library card number.

Searchasaurus, Student Research Center and Kids Search

Ebsco's Searchasaurus, Student Research Center and Kids Search make it easy for students of all ages to search by keyword or by topic to find the most useful search results. Results can be easily sorted by source type -- magazines, reference books, photos, flags, etc.  This service is available through computers located in the Library and at home with your library card number.

Ebsco Host

The Ebsco databases are available through computers located in the Library and at home with your library card number.

MAS Ultra provides access to the full text of articles from over 400 magazines, indexing and abstracts for over 500 periodicals and full text for hundreds of important pamphlets. This service is available through computers located in the Library and at home with your library card number.

Newspaper Source provides selected full text for 23 national (U.S.) and international newspapers, as well as full text television and radio news transcripts and selected full text for more than 200 regional (U.S.) newspapers. This service is available through computers located in the Library and at home with your library card number.



netLibrary

Thousands of books, including reference and technical books, are available online through netLibrary. If you create an account while logged on at the library, you can then access netLibrary from your home computer.

State Government Publications Online

The Nebraska Publications Clearinghouse Service of the Nebraska Library Commission provides access to online State of Nebraska publications.



NebraskAccess

NebraskAccess provides Nebraska citizens with free online access to thousands of current full-text magazines, journals, newspapers, business information and much more. The Nebraska Library Commission purchases access to these resources with funding from the State of Nebraska. This service can be accessed from your home or business using your Nebraska driver's license, Nebraska ID number, or a NebraskaAccess password. You may obtain the password at the Information Desk.  The password will be changed twice a year.  If you are not at the library, the following resources can be accessed through NebraskAccess at http://nebraskaccess.ne.gov/

HeritageQuest Online

HeritageQuest Online is a Web-based genealogical resource available as part of NebraskAccess. This service can be accessed from your home or business using your Nebraska driver's license, Nebraska ID number or NebraskAccess password.

FirstSearch

FirstSearch contains the following databases: ArticleFirst, ClasePeriodica, Electronic Collections Online, ERIC, GPO Monthly Catalog, MEDLINE, PapersFirst, ProceedingsFirst, Union List of Periodicals, World Almanac which includes Funk & Wagnall's New Encyclopedia, and WorldCat, a listing of materials in libraries worldwide. This service can be accessed from your home or business using your Nebraska driver's license, Nebraska ID number or NebraskAccess password.

eLibrary

eLibrary provides access to the full text of articles from selected magazines, newspapers, books, and radio and TV broadcasts. If you wish to access this service from outside the Library, please come to the Information Desk and get a NebraskAccess password from the Library staff.

WilsonWeb

Wilson Web includes Wilson OmniFile with 1,700 full-text journals and magazines, and Wilson Biographies Plus Illustrated with 120,000 biographies and 32,000 photographs. This service can be accessed from your home or business using your Nebraska driver's license, Nebraska ID number or NebraskAccess password.



Project Gutenberg

Choose among the 16,000 free ebooks in the Project Gutenberg Catalog. You may download all their ebooks for your personal use for free. Project Gutenberg is the oldest producer of free ebooks on the Internet. Their collection was produced by hundreds of volunteers.

Books In Print

Look up publishing information on books, audiobooks and videos. This service is only available through computers located in the Library.
