Minutes

 

  1. Roll Call
  2. President Karon Harvey called the meeting to order at 5:02 p.m. Present were Karon Harvey,, Teresa Clark, Rita Brown, Steve Viessman, Library Director Bev Russell, library staff Judy Oltmanns, Kathy Powers, Carol Netterfield, Deb Carlson, Nancy Escamilla, and Jana Kehn. Sue Waite was ill.

  3. Notice of changes in the agenda. (Additions may not be made to this agenda less than 24 hours before the beginning of the meeting unless added under item 3 of this agenda.)
  4. There were none.

  5. Citizens with business not scheduled on the agenda. (As required by state law, no matter may be considered under this item unless the board determines that the matter requires emergency action.)

  7. Approve board-meeting minutes of February 7, 2006. Rita moved and Steve seconded the approval of the minutes of the February 7, 2006 meeting. The minutes were approved.

  10. Reports and recommendations from the Library Director and/or library staff:

  1. Actions items:
    1. Work session with library staff and board to develop capital campaign theme and logo options.

A brainstorming session was held with the library board and staff to develop a theme and logo for the capital campaign. After getting input from all present the consensus of the group was that the theme of the library as a community living room was the preferred choice.

Teresa will talk with one of her co-workers who has experience developing logos and ask her to develop some examples for us. It was felt that if we have a logo professionally done, we have more control over the finished product..

It was suggested that a video production about the library be developed for promotion. Rita’s brother-in-law has experience with this as does Becky McMillen who did the production for the Midwest Theater.
