New Books - Bev Russell, Library Director
(This column appeared in the September 14, 2008, Star-Herald)
I was on the road this past week to meetings in eastern Nebraska so the today’s article is short and sweet. Here is a list of some of our newer books at the library.
"Blood Trail" by C J. Box –Box is a favorite around these parts, and this is his newest Joe Pickett book.
"The Last Campaign: Robert F. Kennedy and 82 Days That Inspired America" by Thurston Clarke is a recounting of the tragic presidential campaign of Robert Kennedy 30 years ago.
"The Assassin" by Stephen Coonts - This thriller by a master of the genre involves an assassination plot and Al Quaeda.
"Crimson Eve" by Brandilyn Collins – I don’t know too much about this author. The blurb says it is "fast-paced" mystery and has beautifully developed characters. I know you can always trust a blurb. Don’t you?
"The Miracle at Speedy Motors" by Alexander McCall-Smith – another cozy mystery McCall-Smith’s many fans
"Dear American Airlines" by Jonathan Miles – I don’t think Jonathan Miles is too happy with American Airlines.
"So Brave, Young and Handsome" by Leif Enger – The author of "Peace Like a River" writes about the West in the early part of the 20th Century.
"The Bin Ladens" by Steve Coll – This book takes a look at the Bin Laden family, how they got their wealth, and how Osama Bin Laden fits into the whole family network.
"Smoke Screen" by Sandra Brown – Brown’s latest hot romance
"Guide to Scenic Highways & Byways" - National Geographic
