Fourth of July

Fireworks go on sale in Scottsbluff tomorrow June 25th. Scottsbluff Ordinance allows for the sale of fireworks starting on June 25th until July 4th at midnight. Fireworks may only be discharged from 08:00am until 10:00pm June 25th through July 3rd and then 08:00am until midnight on July 4th.

Possessing or discharging fireworks in any of the city parks is strictly prohibited.

Both the Fire and Police Departments urge citizens to use fireworks safely. Parental supervision is encouraged. It is prudent to be prepared to extinguish any fire that may be started.  Parents are urged to visit with their children concerning basic safety rules.  This should include warnings against throwing fireworks at moving vehicles, from moving vehicles, at individuals or groups of people, or at or near buildings.

Be responsible and keep these safety tips in mind:

  • Always read and follow the directions
  • Have an adult present at all times
  • Use outdoors only
  • Never experiment or make your own fireworks
  • Light only one firework at a time
  • Never relight a "dud"
  • Always have water handy to thoroughly soak spent fireworks
  • Never throw or point fireworks at other people
  • Never give fireworks to small children
  • Stay away from illegal fireworks

The fire and police departments want everyone to have a great, safe Fourth of July.

Police officers will patrol the streets to ensure that everyone enjoys the holiday responsibly.
