Permits & Inspections

Building
The Building Permits and Inspections goal is to help you build your building with no surprises, or unexpected delays, while achieving compliance with all adopted building and zoning codes.

The city has certified inspectors who are qualified plan examiners, and inspectors for all types of building construction with the purpose to promote a safe and professional building quality for Scottsbluff City.

Inspection requests can usually be accommodated within 24 hours. Major projects could be assigned a primary inspector for the duration of the construction.
Stormwater

The State of Nebraska requires all construction sites that disturb greater than one acre of land or which are part of a larger common plan of development that disturbs greater than one acre to prepare a Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan and to obtain a Construction Site to Waters NPDES Permit.

The state also requires the City of Scottsbluff to have a system for plan review and inspection for projects in the city’s zoning jurisdiction.  In order to meet these requirements, the City of Scottsbluff requires all activities that disturb one acre or more to obtain a Stormwater Permit.  This permit is in addition to the CSW permit that is required by the state.
