Splash Arena is located on the west side of Scottsbluff High School, at 2nd Avenue and 29th Street. It consists of both indoor and outdoor pools. It was constructed in 1976 as a cooperative effort involving the City of Scottsbluff, the Scottsbluff School District, Nebraska Game and Parks, and the Bureau of Outdoor Recreation of the Department of the Interior. It was designed by Olsson and Associates as the architects, and was built by Cillesson Construction. It is used by the Scottsbluff Schools swim team, the school's adaptive swim class and swimming lessons for 5th grade in all of Scottsbluff's elementary schools. It is also used by the Torpedo USA Swim Club and the Scottsbluff Special Olympics. In addition, it is used by the City Recreation Program for open swimming, swimming lessons, waterwalking exercise classes, lap swimming, other exercise classes and various special events.
