City of Scottsbluff Parks Department

The Parks and Recreation Department is comprised of the Park, Recreation and Cemetery Divisions. The Park Division manages 47 sites (5 school-owned properties) including 23 parks, 10 tennis courts, 11 lighted baseball and softball fields, 4.89 miles of trail system, 12 picnic shelters, 5 public restrooms, 14 playgrounds, visitor information center, 30 city blocks of urban landscaping, 11 blocks of landscaped medians and a 43-site full-service campground. The Park Division performs the maintenance and improvements to its 281-acre park system.

 

The Recreation Division is responsible for the staffing, programming and scheduling of the indoor and outdoor pools at the Splash Arena and the Westmoor Pool. The division provides community activities such as: Adult Softball Leagues, Pre-School and American Red Cross Swimming Instruction, Tennis Instruction, Movies in the Park, Easter Egg Hunt, and Harvest Night.

 

Fairview Cemetery is a 40-acre facility established in 1901 and is run by the Cemetery Division.  Fairview is the largest cemetery in the Panhandle of Nebraska. Cemetery Division oversees polices and operations of the cemetery, maintains and improves the cemetery grounds, manages the sale of burial lots, and coordinates burial arrangements with families and funeral homes.
