Service Area
The CAPstone Center
provides services within the eleven-county Nebraska Panhandle. This region has
a population of 90410 and encompasses over 14000 square miles.
The Center has been
used extensively by law enforcement and child protective services from
throughout this service area.
Scope of
Services
-
Provision of training forensic interviews for video and audio taping of
interviews.

Coordination with Regional West Medical Center for comprehensive medical
examinations by trained medical personnel including tests and exam notes.

Partnering
with Nebraska Dept. of Health and Human Services for support and advocacy
for child victims and their families, from case initiation through
adjudication.

Maintenance
of case tracking dates.

Coordination of team case
reviews.

Provision of a safe, temporary
place for child victims on an emergency basis, while placement is secured by
the Dept. of Health and Human Services.

Provision of
education and support to child victims in preparation for court appearances
and testimony. This is provided in cooperation with the County Attorney's
office and the guardian ad litem.
The Center is
available for use under the following guidelines:

Cases of physical abuse and or
neglect.

Sexual abuse cases.

Child witness to a violent
crime.

Required consent forms must be
completed, dated and signed prior to medical exams and interviews.
Any panhandle law
enforcement agency, child protective service worker or County Attorney's office
may utilize the center.
Use of the Center
for purposes other than interviews, medical exams or temporary emergency holds
needs to be requested at least two days in advance and approved by the Center
Director.
