The
Law Enforcement Continuing Education Program (LECE) originally known
as the 40 Hour Program, began on June 7, 1993. Police Chiefs Jim
Livingston and Melvin Griggs and former Sheriff Charles Fairbanks
agreed there was a need for in-house, multi-agency training designed
to alleviate some of the high cost factors associated with sending
officers away to be trained. By putting together our current
resources and expertise in various areas we were able to save
valuable manpower, time, and expense by continuing the education of
our officers through re-certification for mandatory classes,
updating, teaching courses designed to solve problems before they
became insurmountable.

Philosophy and
Goals
MAINTENANCE OF
CERTIFICATION, PROACTIVE TRAINING, PROBLEM SOLVING, AND UPDATE
TRAINING THROUGH MULTI-AGENCY COOPERATION.
1. To provide
re-certification of courses deemed mandatory in the Nebraska State
Statutes.
2. To provide
professional training designed to preempt foreseeable problems in
specific law enforcement areas.
3. To identify law
enforcement areas currently lacking in specialized training to
provide training and education designed to provide solutions for
these problem areas.
4. To provide
state-of-the-art information and training to officers to meet the
challenges facing today and tomorrow.

Continuing Education is severely limited due to
budget constraints.
