Special
Weapons And Tactics
Specially trained
officers respond to critical incidents such as: hostage rescue,
hostage negotiations, barricaded suspects, high risk arrests,
search warrants or any other dangerous situation where their
special training can be put to use. SWAT teams get their
training from monthly training activities and from annual
training at Nebraska Law
Enforcement Training Center where they are trained with
other SWAT teams and get special instruction from Nebraska State
Patrol and FBI SWAT teams. The SWAT team includes officers from
Scottsbluff Police Department, Gering Police Department, and the
Scotts Bluff County Sheriff's office.
The SWAT Team can
be recognized by their black uniforms with POLICE written across
the back and front.
The purpose of the SWAT
Team is:
(1) to stop the momentum
of violent crime;
(2) control violent
situations;
(3) protect the lives and
property of citizens.
If you see the
SWAT team in your area, please stay clear for your own protection
and for the safety of those involved!
