Young Adult Programs
Teen Advisory Council (TAC)
TAC is a group of middle school and high school students who advise library staff on collection development, event planning, and providing services for local youth. TAC also advocates on behalf of the library to their peers.
Summer Reading Program (annual)
In June and July, the library hosts summer reading for teens and tweens sixth grade through high school. Each year, a nationally recognized theme guides the development of events and activities formed to encourage literacy and reading for teens.
STEAMpunks (September-April)
STEAMpunks combines STEM (science) with art and performance for fun learning experiences.
It is geared toward 3rd-8th grades but younger children are welcome with someone to help them, and
high school students are welcome to come and help. STEAMpunks meets the second Tuesday of each month between 3:30-5:30; it is a drop-in program so you don't need to stay the entire time.
There's no need to register and the program is free.
Board Game Club
Board Game Club is an all-ages program the third Saturday of each month from 12:00-4:30.
Anyone is welcome to join in the meeting room at the library to try out new board games,
or enjoy old favorites.
No registration or library card necessary.
Special Events
The library hosts special events for young adults such as pop-up crafts, Open Mic Night and escape rooms. “Like” the library’s Facebook page or call the library and ask for Elaine for updates. Suggestions are welcomed. Please call the library at (308) 630-6250.
Volunteer
Do you need community service hours or simply enjoy working within your community? Young adult volunteers are welcome to fill out a volunteer application or stop in and ask for Elaine.
