Trees

The Parks and Recreation Department is responsible for preserving and nurturing Scottsbluff’s park trees by utilizing best management practices. Staff maintains existing vigorous trees, removes dead/diseased/dying trees, and replants with a diverse species selection in an effort to reduce disease and pest pressure as well as sustain our park canopies for today and future generations.

In 2016, the Nebraska Forest Service conducted a survey of street and park trees in the City of Scottsbluff. Presently, over 8,000 trees have been inventoried. For more information and to see the Tree Plotter Map, click here.

In addition to promoting the planting and increasing the diversity of trees in city parks, the Parks and Recreation Department offers the Tree Rebate Program. Residents may receive a rebate up to 50%  (up to $150) for the cost of trees planted on their property. For more information, click here.
